
The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) on Wednesday announced revised operating hours for all government-run educational institutions in the capital for the upcoming holy month of Ramazan.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced today that the crescent moon for Ramazan 1447 AH was sighted and the first fast of the holy month would be observed on Thursday.
Accordingly, a decision notification issued by the FDE Academics Wing on school timings, affects Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges, as well as former FG colleges in both urban and rural areas. The revised schedule aims to provide relief to students and staff observing the fast while ensuring academic activities continue without disruption.
Under the new timetable, single-shift institutions and Ex-FG colleges will operate from 8am to 12:30pm from Monday to Thursday, with an earlier closure at 12pm on Fridays.
For double-shift institutions, the morning session will run from 8am to 12:30pm throughout the week. The evening session is scheduled from 12:30pm to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, with Friday evening classes starting at 1:30pm to accommodate congregational prayers.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Education Department announced revised school timings for the holy month, according to an official notification issued today.
Under the new schedule for plain areas of the province, primary schools will operate from 7:45am to 11:15am. Middle, high and higher secondary schools will run from 7:45am to 12:10pm.
The revised timings will remain in effect throughout Ramazan to facilitate students and staff observing the fast.
The Sindh School Education Department also revised school timings across the province according to a notification issued today.
The notification outlined new schedules for primary, secondary and higher secondary schools. Under the revised timetable, single-shift schools will operate from 8am to 12:30pm, while on Fridays, they will close earlier at 11:30am.
For double-shift schools, the first shift will run from 7:30am to 11:30am. The second shift will operate from 11:45am to 2:45pm.
The new timings will apply to all public and private schools across Sindh.
