Islamabad administration terminates parking contractor over Fraud, takes legal action

Islamabad: The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has officially terminated its agreement with AJCL, the private company hired to digitize Islamabad’s parking system, citing repeated violations, financial irregularities, and negligence that compromised public safety and caused revenue losses.

Investigations revealed that AJCL had failed to fulfill key obligations under the contract. The company did not install the promised digital payment systems, allowed unrecorded cash transactions, and ignored critical security requirements. These lapses led to multiple thefts and widespread inconvenience for the public.

Despite being issued several warnings, AJCL failed to take corrective measures. As a result, the DMA was compelled to initiate legal action. An FIR has been registered against the company at Kohsar Police Station, and the contract has been formally revoked.

Since assuming direct control of the parking operations, the DMA has observed a clear rise in revenue, highlighting the effectiveness of transparent and accountable public management. The administration’s efforts have not only restored public confidence but also set a new standard for how public services should be managed.

In response to the termination, AJCL has filed a lawsuit against the DMA. However, the administration has confirmed it will contest the case firmly in court and defend its actions.

The DMA reaffirmed its commitment to providing secure, fair, and efficient parking services for the people of Islamabad. It also warned that strict action will be taken against any individual or organization that breaches public trust.
