Esmaeil Baqaei, the current spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, conveyed deep gratitude to Pakistan for hosting high-stakes peace talks with the US.
After the Vice President of the United States JD Vance and his delegation departed Pakistan without agreement, Baqaei issued a statement on X that read, “We express our appreciation to the government and the warm-hearted and noble people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for hosting the negotiations and their benevolent efforts in advancing this process.”
To protect Iran’s interests and rights, the negotiators are “employing all their capabilities, experience, and knowledge,” and the heavy loss of our great elders, dear ones, and fellow countrymen has made our resolve to pursue the Iranian nation’s interests and rights firmer than ever before,” added Baqaei.
He also affirmed that Iran would continue its “historic mission” to safeguard “noble Iranian civilization” following the conclusion of Islamabad negotiations without a deal. “The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to utilize all tools, including diplomacy, to secure national interests and protect the country’s well-being.”
Baqaei called diplomacy “the sacred jihad of the defenders of the Iranian land,” and despite coming to marathon negotiations with the US, Iran will “forget the experiences of America’s breaches of promise and malicious acts. Just as we will not forgive the heinous crimes committed by them and the Zionist regime during the course of the second and third imposed wars.”
According to media reports, the Iranian delegation has also left Islamabad.
