Iran appoints new Intelligence Chief for Revolutionary Guards

Tehran: Iran announced the appointment of Brigadier General Majid Khadami as the new head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

After the recent killing of his predecessor in an Israeli airstrike. The official IRNA news agency reported that Major General Mohammad Pakpour made the appointment.

Khadami steps into the role after Mohammed Kazemi, along with officers Hassan Mohaghegh and Mohsen Bagheri, were killed last Sunday in an Israeli attack targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites.

This marks the second recent leadership change within the IRGC’s intelligence division, as Pakpour was himself appointed after Israel killed Hossein Salami in June.

Iran has accused Israel of escalating regional tensions through targeted strikes, which Iran denies are related to nuclear weapons development. In response to Israel’s actions, Iran launched retaliatory strikes against an Israeli hospital earlier this week.

Following his appointment by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei last Friday, Pakpour issued a threatening statement, warning of potential escalation by saying Iran could open “the gates of hell” in retaliation. Meanwhile, top Israeli officials have openly discussed the possibility of targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader.
