Indian Airline flight crashes in Gujrat’s Ahmedabad after take-off

A plane has crashed at an airport in Ahmedabad, a city located in western India, with media outlets confirming the incident on Thursday, Indian media reported.

The crash reportedly occurred in the Meghani Nagar area, close to the airport’s perimeter. Initial reports suggest the aircraft went down shortly after takeoff, but this has not been officially verified. The plane was said to be carrying 133 passengers at the time of the incident.

Footage from the scene shows thick black smoke rising from the crash site. Emergency response teams have reached the location, and rescue operations are currently in progress.

Fire and emergency teams were quickly mobilised, with more than five firefighting vehicles from various city divisions being dispatched to the crash site.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services Department confirmed that fire control efforts were swiftly initiated as a precaution. “A team of over five fire vehicles has reached the location, and fire control measures are being carried out,” stated a senior fire department official.

The cause of the crash, along with the extent of the damage to the aircraft, is still under investigation. Both Air India and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have launched inquiries into the incident. A technical team is also on-site to assess the situation further.

Authorities are yet to provide further details on the incident, and official confirmation is awaited.
