Humaira Asghar finally buried in a grave, May her soul rest in peace
Humaira Asghar Ali, the Pakistani actress and model who was found dead in her Karachi flat after months of isolation, was finally laid to rest in Lahore after a prolonged and heartbreaking delay.
Her badly decomposed body was recovered on July 8, 2025, when court authorities broke into her apartment following a legal eviction notice initiated by the landlord. What they discovered left everyone stunned—her body lay on the floor, surrounded by insects, her clothes in tatters, and her face completely unrecognizable. During the transfer of her remains, one of her hands detached from the body due to the extent of decay.
Initially, authorities believed she had died a month earlier. However, forensic findings later revealed that Humaira had passed away between nine to ten months ago. Her flat, located in Karachi’s Ittehad Commercial area, shared its floor with only one other unit, which remained unoccupied from October to February—possibly explaining why no one reported the stench.
The real tragedy unfolded after the body was discovered. Her family refused to accept the remains, a decision that deeply saddened the public and sparked outrage on social media. As the entertainment industry and social activists stepped forward to arrange a respectful burial, media pressure seemingly led to a breakthrough. Her brother, Naveed Asghar, eventually arrived in Karachi and received the body.
Last night, her remains were transported by road to Lahore. Earlier today, Humaira’s funeral prayer was held, and she was quietly buried at Model Town Cemetery. The family kept media away from the funeral, moving the body directly from the mortuary to the burial site, ending a long and deeply tragic chapter in silence.
