How Beyonce and Solange uplifted mom Tina Knowles before cancer surgery

Tina Knowles is sharing the deeply personal moment her daughters Beyoncé and Solange gave her strength before one of the hardest days of her life.
The 71-year-old matriarch attended the Angel Ball in New York City on Monday, October 28, where she was joined by her family as she received a philanthropy award. Speaking to People magazine at the event, Tina recalled how her girls lifted her spirits before she went in for breast cancer surgery last year.
“Right before I was wheeled in to get the surgery, my girls sang a gospel song, Walk With Me, which I absolutely love,” she said.
Tine, who was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in July 2023, said the heartfelt moment turned lighthearted when Beyoncé and Solange had her laughing with the viral “demure” TikTok trend.
“I went in there laughing and feeling so blessed — like everything was going to be okay. And it was. It so warms my heart,” Tina recalled.
In her memoir, Matriarch, Tina wrote about how Beyoncé “took it well, staying positive,” while Solange reassured her, saying, “Mom, we are going to take care of this.”
The designer attended Monday’s Angel Ball alongside her granddaughter, 13-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, who was a spitting image of her mother in a pink silk gown.
Beyoncé shared a picture of her mother and daughter to her Instagram, writing, “Congrats mom on your philanthropy award at the Angel Ball tonight.”
