Hilaria Baldwin, Alec Baldwin are going to therapy

Hilaria Baldwin is opening up about her marriage to Alec Baldwin and the effort it takes to make their relationship work, including therapy.

The yoga instructor, 41, revealed during an appearance on the Uncut and Uncensored podcast with Caroline Stanbury that she and her husband have sought professional help to navigate the challenges that come with their 26-year age difference.

“I don’t believe that age is just a number, at least in our situation,” Hilaria shared, explaining that Alec, 67, often brings decades more experience to the table.

“There are certain things where I have to look at him and say, ‘He has 26 more years of experience.’ And sometimes that’s a flex, and sometimes that means that we need to do a little therapy.”

The couple, who married in 2012 and have seven children together, have faced more than just generational differences.

Their marriage has been tested by personal and public challenges, from miscarriages to the tragic Rust movie set shooting that left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead in 2021.

Hilaria has also weathered scrutiny over claims that she faked a Spanish heritage, which she has denied, calling her accent “natural.”

When discussing their growing family, whose children range from ages 2 to 12, Hilaria reflected on Alec’s past with ex-wife Kim Basinger and their daughter, Ireland Baldwin.

“He had the very notorious, complicated situation with his previous wife and with Ireland,” she said, adding that Alec wanted “a chance to do it in a different way and make different choices.”

Even with all the love and planning that went into building their large family, Hilaria admitted that it hasn’t been without “hard moments.”

“Do we have our normal, marital arguments? One hundred percent,” she said honestly. “But it’s the desire to both want to be there and to both want to make it work. When you have that, I think you can go through anything together.”

Hilaria Baldwin reflects on being married to Alec Baldwin

Beyond their marriage, Hilaria also reflected on her personal identity and how being married to a Hollywood star has shaped her sense of self.

“I think in many ways, I did lose part of my identity when I married Alec,” she confessed, describing how overwhelming it felt to suddenly become the subject of public discussion.

She recalled a moment of advice she once shared on Instagram, “This woman said, ‘You need to be able to really articulate and know what your identity is, because otherwise you’re going to just get it from other people because everybody’s going to have an opinion.’”

That message stuck with her.

Now, Hilaria says she’s more grounded in who she is. “I haven’t been as clear as I should have been with myself about my identity,” she admitted.

“People can say this or that. I cannot stop them. But I can know myself in a way that hopefully it won’t give me that nauseous pit in my stomach that I’ve experienced so many times.”

Through therapy, self-reflection, and shared effort, Hilaria and Alec Baldwin appear determined to keep understanding each other, and themselves, as their marriage continues to evolve.
