
Heavy rain brings relief for residents of twin cities
RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: Torrential rainfall turned the weather pleasant in the twin cities , breaking the intensity of the ongoing heatwave.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, intermittent rain showers continued throughout Rawalpindi, with 15 mm of rainfall recorded in Shamsabad and 27 mm in Saidpur.
The downpour significantly reduced heat and humidity levels, bringing much-needed relief to residents.
According to WASA officials, water flow in Nullah Lai remains normal, and all precautionary measures have been put in place in anticipation of further rain.
WASA department said staff and machinery are deployed in the low -lying areas, rain emergency is implemented in Rawalpindi.
On the other hand, light drizzle was reported early morning in various areas of the city including II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, and MA Jinnah Road, offering slight respite from the prevailing heat.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, hot and humid conditions are expected to persist across most parts of the country today. However, rain is likely in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
