Hamza Ali Abbasi, a versatile Pakistani television and film actor and a student of Islam, commands a strong Instagram following of 1.1 million. He has delivered hit dramas such as “Mann Mayal”, “Pyare Afzal”, “Alif”, and “Jaan e Jahan”. His popular films include “Jawani Phir Nahi Aani”, “Umro Ayar”, and “The Legend of Maula Jatt”. A few years ago, he made headlines by announcing a break from the media, but he soon returned with the drama serial “Jaan e Jahan”.

Hamza Ali Abbasi recently appeared on Mansoor Ali Khan’s podcast, where he clarified his earlier statement about quitting the showbiz industry.

Talking about it, “I didn’t bid farewell to showbiz. I just made a video in which I clearly said that I’m not quitting — I’m just taking a break. It should not be taken as if I’m leaving, because the Islamic scholar I follow has a very different approach. I mentioned that I follow Javed Ahmad Ghamidi, but the next day, it was in the news that I had left the showbiz industry.”

Hamza Ali Abbasi explained, “I went to Dallas to learn Islam from Mr. Ghamidi. Unfortunately, people here don’t watch the full video and instead conclude from short clips. In our industry, people view Islam and entertainment as complete opposites, so the very next day, the headline read: ‘Hamza has left the media.’”
