After years of relentless speculation and anticipation, Rockstar Games, along with its parent company Take-Two Interactive, has officially confirmed the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6).
The blockbuster title is now set to launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026, bringing long-awaited clarity to one of the most talked-about projects in gaming history.
At launch, GTA 6 will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, continuing Rockstar’s established strategy of staggered releases.
PC users will have to wait longer, with the Windows version expected to arrive sometime between late 2026 and 2027.
The confirmed release date reflects a shift from the previously anticipated May 2026 window. Addressing the delay, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explained that the additional development time is essential to meet Rockstar’s uncompromising quality standards.
Dismissing rumors of development troubles, industry insiders suggest the core content has been ready for some time.
Zelnick emphasized that the postponement is a deliberate move to pursue “perfection,” ensuring the final product delivers a refined and immersive experience rather than a rushed release.
In GTA 6, players will return to a reimagined Vice City, now set within the fictional state of Leonida Rockstar’s satirical take on modern-day Florida.
The narrative centers on two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, marking a historic first for the franchise with the introduction of a female lead character.
Trailers released so far suggest a “Bonnie and Clyde”-inspired storyline, featuring high-stakes robberies, intense police pursuits, and a crime-driven narrative.
Footage showing Lucia in prison hints at a plot that explores both sides of the criminal justice system.
Anticipation surrounding GTA 6 has already translated into staggering financial projections, with analysts estimating that pre-order sales alone could surpass $1 billion.
Alongside this optimism, speculation has surfaced about a potential price increase, with some industry observers predicting a launch price of up to $100.
While Zelnick refrained from confirming any pricing details, he reiterated Take-Two’s commitment to delivering value that justifies the cost.
The company has also confirmed that GTA 6 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, underscoring its positioning as a premium, full-priced release.
