Gaza’s tragedy highlights the violation of international laws, Asim Iftikhar

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, stated in an interview with Arab media that the tragedy in Gaza underscores the disregard for international laws.

According to Arab media, Asim Iftikhar emphasized that Pakistan’s position regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state is clear; we acknowledge the rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with UN resolutions and international law.

He mentioned that the joint conference led by Saudi Arabia and France on the two-state solution presents a golden opportunity for the international community to come together and express support for the Palestinian cause.

Iftikhar revealed that during the eight roundtable conferences held in preparation for this event, Pakistan highlighted the human and legal aspects of the two-state solution.

We are in contact with Saudi Arabia regarding ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. While Pakistan is not directly involved in these negotiations, we maintain communication with key parties.

He expressed disappointment that Israel has not shown any positive signals to advance peace efforts and stated that Pakistan currently seeks the establishment of a Palestinian state within the framework of the two-state solution.

He also stated that India has attacked Pakistan, and under the UN Charter, Pakistan has the right to defend itself.

The Pakistani envoy welcomed the international efforts for negotiations and expressed Pakistan’s desire to engage in talks with India.
