Field Marshal Asim Munir hold key meeting with US President, official statement released

Washington: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.

According to a joint statement released by ISPR, the meeting began with a formal lunch in White House Cabinet Room, where they discussed strengthening Pakistan-US relations.

President Trump was accompanied by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative Steve Witkoff, while the Pakistani Army Chief was joined by Pakistan’s National Security Advisor.

During the meeting, the Army Chief conveyed the stance of Pakistan and its people, and expressed gratitude to the U.S. leadership for its positive role in facilitating the ceasefire between Pakistan and India.

President Trump appreciated the ongoing counterterrorism cooperation between the two nations and commended Pakistan’s efforts for promoting peace in the region. Both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in the fields of economy, trade, and defense, including sectors such as minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, and cryptocurrency.

The two leaders also held an in-depth discussion on the Iran-Israel conflict, during which President Trump praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership qualities, told ISPR

The Army Chief extended an invitation to President Trump to visit Pakistan on behalf of the Government of Pakistan. The visit’s date will be decided through mutual consultation.

ISPR stated that the meeting, originally scheduled for one hour, lasted over two hours. It was described as a significant milestone in fostering longstanding Pakistan-U.S. ties and will contribute to achieving shared goals of peace, stability, and prosperity.
