With over 57 million daily users worldwide, this translates into a staggering daily water consumption exceeding 14.8 billion liters—roughly equivalent to several large lakes.
DeepAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, has acknowledged the strain on server infrastructure, calling for users to minimize non-essential interactions to mitigate environmental impact. This water consumption is primarily linked to cooling systems in data centers, which generate significant heat during intensive AI processing.
