Demi Lovato is back in the spotlight with her latest single Fast, a high-energy dance track that marks her return to the pop music genre.

The song, which dropped on August 1, 2025, is the first single from her upcoming ninth studio album, executive-produced by Zhone, known for collaborations with Kesha, Troye Sivan, and Charli XCX.

The music video for Fast features Lovato strutting through vibrant city streets, performing her new hit. With lyrics like “I wanna go fast / I wanna go hard / I wanna go anywhere, anywhere you are,” the song is expected to be a summer anthem.

This release signifies a notable shift in Lovato’s music style, following her previous rock albums Holy Fvck and Revamped.

Zhone praised Lovato’s talent, saying, “It’s been so inspiring working with Demi and experiencing her journey of continued leveling up. She is such a master in the studio. This album is about letting inhibitions go, and we had so much fun making this music! It really comes across throughout.”

The album is described as “celebratory dance-pop,” reflecting Lovato’s personal growth and happiness in recent years.

Lovato’s most recent release was Revamped, which revamped and remixed tracks from her discography. She also made her directorial debut with the documentary Child Star, exploring the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight.

The doc features interviews with notable former child stars like Drew Barrymore, JoJo Siwa, and Christina Ricci. Lovato recently tied the knot with Jordan “Jutes” Luts earlier this year.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for Lovato’s return to pop, and the announcement has sparked excitement across social media.

Some reactions include: “SONG OF THE SUMMER INCOMING!!!!!!!!!” and “Can’t wait to overanalyze every lyric like it’s about me.” The song’s release has generated significant buzz, with many fans praising Lovato’s bold new direction.
