Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo recently shared the heartfelt details of his engagement to fiancée Georgina Rodríguez, revealing that the moment he proposed was entirely spontaneous.
In a recent interview, Ronaldo opened up about how Georgina wasn’t focused on the price or the appearance of the ring. “What I love is that she didn’t care about the ring at all. She simply asked me if I was being sincere. I told her, ‘Yes, I love you, and I want to marry you,’” Ronaldo explained.
He admitted that the moment was incredibly emotional for him, adding, “I didn’t cry, but there were definitely tears in my eyes.”
Ronaldo also shared that he chose the diamond for Georgina himself, carefully selecting it based on her taste. “She had always dreamed of a beautiful stone, so after a lot of searching, I found the perfect diamond that I knew she’d love.”
Smiling, he continued, “Even though I wouldn’t describe myself as an overly romantic person, this moment felt completely natural. It was around 1 a.m., the kids were asleep, a friend handed me the ring, and just then, and my children came in and said, ‘Daddy, are you going to give Mama the ring?’ That’s when I knew it was the right time.”
Ronaldo also reflected on how unplanned the proposal was, yet everything fell into place perfectly. “I always knew I would propose, but I never intended to do it that night. A friend was recording, and everything just came together beautifully.”
When asked about the wedding, Ronaldo mentioned that there were no immediate plans. “We’re thinking of getting married after the World Cup, with the trophy in hand. Georgina doesn’t like big celebrations, so I’ll honor her wishes.”
The couple had announced their engagement in August, sharing a photo where Georgina’s ring was prominently displayed. Reports indicate that the diamond is a 37-carat stone, valued at approximately $5 million.
