Conan O’Brien is sharing his reaction for the first time about the shocking killing of his pal Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner.
Hours before the filmmaker and his wife were found dead inside their Los Angeles residence, Rob, Michele and their son Nick, who was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, were present at Conan’s holiday party on December 13.
“I knew Rob and Michele, and then increasingly got closer and closer to them,” he said in a recent interview with The New Yorker.
Conan revealed that he and his wife Liza Powel O’Brien, “were seeing them a lot.”
“They were just such lovely people,” Conan said of Rob and Michele.
“And to have that experience of saying good night to somebody and having them leave and then find out the next day that they’re gone…. I think I was in shock for quite a while afterward. I mean, there’s no other word for it.”
It is pertinent to mention that multiple sources reported that Rob and Nick got into a heated conversation at Conan’s party.
Conan further remarked on Rob’s killing, adding, “It’s just so awful. And I think about how Rob felt about things that are happening in the country, how involved he was, how much he put himself out there—and to have that voice go quiet in an instant is still hard for me to comprehend.”
