
Quetta: Afghan Football Club Goalkeeper injured in shooting during All-Pakistan CM Gold Cup match
During the pre-quarterfinal match of the All-Pakistan CM Gold Cup football tournament held at Quetta’s Railway Ground, Majid Khan Junior, the goalkeeper of Afghan Football Club Chaman, was injured when unidentified assailants opened fire. He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The incident occurred after the referee made a controversial decision against Afghan Club Chaman following a dangerous foul during the match against Pakistan Police. This decision led to officials and supporters of Afghan Club Chaman entering the field in protest, escalating tensions.
Amid the chaos, shots were fired, resulting in Majid Khan being wounded. Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible.
Speaking on the incident, a tournament official condemned the violence, stating, “Such incidents tarnish the spirit of sportsmanship and must not be tolerated. We urge the authorities to ensure strict security measures to protect players and fans.”
The football community has expressed deep concern over the safety of players during matches and called for enhanced security protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
