CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad Strengthens Military Ties During Egypt Visit
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), is on an official visit to Egypt for the third round of defence and security talks.
During his visit, he met with key Egyptian leaders, including President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, General Abdel Mageed Saqr—Egypt’s Minister of Defence and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces—and Admiral Osama Mounier Mohamed Rabie, who heads the Suez Canal Authority.
According to the Pakistani military’s media wing, the talks focused on strengthening military cooperation between the two countries. Both sides showed strong interest in increasing joint efforts such as training, exercises, and defence coordination. They also discussed regional security issues and ways to fight terrorism, as shared in a statement by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In an important meeting with Professor Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, General Sahir spoke about the importance of religious understanding and interfaith harmony in tackling the roots of extremism. Egyptian officials praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and recognized their sacrifices in the global war on terror.
When General Sahir arrived at the Ministry of Defence, he was given a Guard of Honour by a well-presented contingent of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
