‘Camp Rock’ star Kevin Jonas advocates therapy breaking social stigma

Kevin Jonas opened up about how therapy helped him navigate through tough time of his life.
During his recent appearance on the podcast, The Squeeze, the Jonas Brothers band member talked about how constant touring can take a toll.
He shared with the hosts Tay and Taylor Lautner about how he would go from insane high of performing every night to suddenly being home.
“It takes you through the highs and lows of touring. Everyone gets sick after a tour. Your immune system finally rests, and you realize you’ve been in fight-or-flight mode the whole time.”
Kevin confessed to experiencing post-tour blues.
“I came home from Europe and I just was not in a good spot. I think the serotonin drop was just maybe too much… I just couldn’t re-acclimate.”
Acknowledging the importance of taking help, Kevin recalled how therapy played a crucial role in help him navigate the transitions.
“I sought a therapist”, Kevin admitted.
“He gave me really good advice. He said, ‘You’re having a hard time because you’re waiting for the next thing to come. How about you take a whole week off from phones and electronics, and just be hyper-present?’”
Kevin highlighted that seeking therapy gave him perspective and helped him understand that it’s okay to feel that way.
He also talked about the pressures of fame and constant public scrutiny.
Priyanka Chopra’s brother-in-law is not the only one adding to the ongoing dialogue on mental health issues.
With the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish pouring their hearts out, more and more people are joining in to break the social stigma.
