Buckingham Palace issues statement as Prince Harry reveals UK return plans

King Charles III’s office has released stunning photos from Buckingham Palace ceremony amid reports of Prince Harry’s return to the UK.

The 76-year-old celebrated heroes with knighthood honours at Buckingham Palace, sharing heartfelt moments on the royal family’s Instagram.

The Palace wrote along with photos: “Today at Buckingham Palace, Sir Billy Boston became the first sportsman to receive a knighthood for services to Rugby League.”

The statement continued: “The King presented Sir Billy – who is considered one of the best Rugby League players of all time, scoring a British record of 571 tries and 488 appearances for @wiganwarriorsrl – with his insignia during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace – with his insignia during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.”

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, was also formally knighted by King Charles at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

The 54-year-old Labour politician received the honour in recognition of his political and public service. Sadiq, who has served as Mayor of London since 2016, was awarded the knighthood after being named in the New Year Honours list.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the mayor, who expressed deep humility about receiving the prestigious award. He made history in May 2024 when he secured a third consecutive term as Mayor of London, becoming the first person to achieve this feat

Taking to social media after the palace ceremony, he shared photographs of the momentous occasion on Facebook. He described the experience as “a truly humbling moment for myself and my family.”

He pledged to “continue to do all I can to build a fairer, safer, greener and more prosperous London for everyone.”
