
Bondi hero Ahmed al Ahmed has received A$2.5m (£1.24m) in community donations during his post-surgery recovery in the hospital.
In a video widely circulating on social media, YouTuber Zachery Dereniowski can be seen visiting Ahmed in hospital and honouring him with the gift.
Ahmed reached the pinnacle of deserving fame after averting the deadly mass shooting at Bondi beach with bare hands.
While everyone was running for their lives during the attack, Ahmed hid behind the parked cars before attacking the shooter from behind, seizing his gun and knocking him to the ground.
Unfortunately, during the effort to disarm the gunman, Ahmed also shot twice and underwent surgery for bullet wounds in arm and hand.
The world not only poured heartfelt tributes to the Bondi hero but also donated $2.5 million in less than a day.
To honour Ahmed’s bravery, the Australian prime minister visited him in the hospital and called him the “strength of whole humanity” and “the best of our country.”
In response to this incredible reward, the social media users took the internet by storm.
One user praised, “This is absolutely incredible and well deserved.”
Another one wrote, “We made the right person famous.”
“Ahmed risked his life for free, so he deserves every penny of that check,” Third one commented.
