Good News: Bike, Car Parking Now Free in Karachi

In a big relief for the people of Pakistan’s largest city, the Sindh government has ended all parking fees on public roads across Karachi.

Now, no one will have to pay for parking on city streets, including 46 major roads and busy shopping areas. This decision was made after a recommendation by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who promised to stop the unfair collection of parking fees.

The move is a serious blow to the parking mafia, which had been charging people illegally for years. The Sindh Local Government Department has ordered all 25 towns in Karachi to stop collecting any parking fees on public roads. Only proper parking lots and official parking plazas will be allowed to charge, and only under strict rules.
