Aurangzeb urges US companies to invest in key Pakistani sectors

WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has expressed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of tariff negotiations with the United States (US).

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the minister is in Washington to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

During his visit, he held meetings with senior officials of the US Department of the Treasury.

The finance minister highlighted Pakistan’s improving economic indicators and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral economic ties.

Aurangzeb also invited American companies to invest in Pakistan’s oil and gas, minerals, agriculture, and information technology sectors.

The Ministry of Finance has described Pakistan’s recent trade agreement with the United States as an important milestone, underscoring the shared commitment to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.

According to the official statement, both sides expressed a desire to enhance engagement between US companies and Pakistan at both government and private sector levels.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb also met with leaders and members of the US-Pakistan Business Council, where he emphasized the government’s commitment to economic stability and the vital role of the private sector in driving growth.

He reaffirmed that the government is determined to provide maximum relief and support to the business community.

The Finance Minister also met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr. Suleiman Al -Jaser, during which Muhammad Aurangzeb expressed his gratitude for the approval of financing for two parts of the M6 ​​motorway while it was agreed to continue cooperation in polio eradication and oil financing facility.

During the meeting of the two individuals, it was also agreed to prepare for the new Country Engagement Framework between Pakistan and the Islamic Development Bank.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, hosted a dinner in honour of Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C.

The event was attended by a large number of members of the Pakistani community, business leaders, and distinguished guests. The participants discussed Pakistan’s ongoing economic reform agenda and prospects for future growth.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb, who is in the US to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, lauded the contributions of overseas Pakistanis to the national economy.

He praised their role in supporting Pakistan’s development and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with the expatriate community.

The minister added that the government remains focused on promoting economic stability, investment, and sustainable growth.
