
FAISALABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has convicted 108 out of 185 accused in the case related to the attack on a sensitive security agency during the May 9 violence cases.
The special ATC announced verdicts in two separate cases related to the May 9 riots. Out of 185 accused in the sensitive agency attack case, 108 were convicted while the remaining were acquitted.
In both cases, the court awarded 10-year prison terms to 166 convicts, making it one of the most significant legal actions following the nationwide unrest triggered by the arrest of former Prime Minister. .
In the May 9 case registered in Ghulam Mohammad Abad, 8 of the 66 accused were acquitted while 58 accused were sentenced to 10, 10 years.
The court sentenced Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz and Zartaj Gul to 10 years imprisonment, Member of the National Assembly Sahibzada Hamid Raza has also been sentenced to 10 years in prison while Junaid Afzal Sahi has been sentenced to 3 years in prison, which is the lowest sentenced by the court.
The Anti -Terrorism Court acquitted Zain Qureshi, Khayal Ahmad Kastro, Fawad Chaudhry and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Earlier, Anti -Terrorism Court also sentenced PTI’s Ahmed Chatha, Ahmed Khan Bhaachar, Dr Yasmin Rashid and Mian Mahmood-ul -Rashid to 10 years in the case of 10 years.
