
At least eight people were killed and 18 others injured when a private company bus travelling from Rawalpindi to Lahore overturned near the Balkasar Interchange on Motorway M-2 due to a tyre burst.
According to the Motorway Police, the vehicle’s front-left tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. The bus overturned shortly after.
Rescue teams and motorway officials reached the scene immediately after the incident.
Rescue 1122 confirmed that the deceased and injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Chakwal.
Minor injuries were treated on-site by motorway police and emergency responders.
Among the deceased were 35-year-old Habiba, eight-month-old Haider Mohsin, an unidentified one-year-old child, 26-year-old Umme Habiba Mohsin, 14-year-old Khadija Khaliq, two-year-old Haram Khaliq, 45-year-old Sardar Nadeem, and 38-year-old Munsha Begum.
Rescue operations were ongoing at the time of the report.
