LAHORE: The Ace Junior Golf League (AJGL) has chosen to dedicate its first-ever World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event to Taimur Hassan Amin, a towering figure in Pakistan’s golfing history.
Scheduled for November 21–22 at the Rumanza Golf Course, the Nick Faldo–designed masterpiece in Multan, this dedication is both symbolic and historic — a recognition of a career that has shaped the trajectory of golf in Pakistan and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Few athletes have left as indelible a mark on Pakistan’s sporting landscape as Taimur Hassan Amin. He became the youngest National Champion in 1971 at just 18 years old. What followed was a period of dominance unparalleled in Pakistan’s golf history: 16 national amateur titles, including 11 consecutive victories from 1970 to 1981, a record that remains untouched. His triumphs at the Pakistan Open in 1974, 1976, and 1986 cemented his reputation as a player of rare consistency and flair.
