ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied claims that the person arrested in Delaware, USA, is a Pakistani national.
According to an official statement, the individual, Luqman Khan, is an Afghan citizen, not Pakistani.
Earlier reports had stated that 25-year-old Luqman Khan was taken into custody on the night of November 24.
According to US media, police stopped a truck in Canby Park West in which Luqman Khan was traveling. Police said he resisted orders to exit the vehicle, leading to his arrest.
During the investigation, authorities reportedly recovered a pistol, magazines, and documents allegedly outlining an attack plan from the truck. The documents included a sketch of the University of Delaware Police Department, entry and exit points, and the name of a police officer.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI) conducted a search of Luqman Khan’s residence on November 25, seizing additional modern weapons.
US authorities had earlier claimed that Luqman Khan was a Pakistani-American student at the University of Delaware and had allegedly planned an attack on the university’s police department.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified, however, that he is not a Pakistani citizen.
