LAHORE:
PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the entire nation stood firmly with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism, stressing there was a need for collective efforts to rid the country of extremism and build a peaceful society.
He expressed these views on Sunday during a meeting with a 20-member delegation of religious scholars and spiritual leaders led by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.
PML-Q Secretary General Tariq Hassan was also present at the meeting.
Shujaat said Islam teaches peace, love, tolerance and service to humanity, adding that the armed forces, under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, were engaged in the fight against enemies of peace.
During the meeting, members of the scholars’ delegation strongly condemned the ongoing attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel, stating that no hostile agenda or conspiracy would be allowed to succeed in Pakistan.
