Home Minister has issued directives to the police to formulate a comprehensive Eid-ul-Fitr security plan.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has issued directives to the police to formulate a comprehensive Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 security plan at the police range level, taking into account the prevailing law and order situation as well as the overall security strategy. He emphasized that the implementation of the plan must be strong, coordinated, and effective in all aspects.
The Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar stated that in coordination with other law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies, all central mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs, and other open venues where Eid prayer congregations will take place must be provided foolproof security at the police station level as part of the contingency plan. He further directed that extraordinary security measures should also be ensured at all public places, including shopping centers, Eid savings bazaars, railway stations, bus terminals, and other crowded locations, under the Eid contingency security plan.
He said that under the prepared contingency plan, all SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs will ensure mobile and motorcycle patrols in accordance with the special instructions. They will also ensure that Eid prayer congregations, mosques, and Imambargahs are effectively covered within the designated patrolling routes.
Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar further directed that surveillance teams be formed at the police station level and deployed at shopping centers, crowded public places, car and motorcycle parking areas, and within and around open Eid prayer venues as part of the security arrangements.
The Sindh Home Minister added that in the Eid-ul-Fitr security plan being prepared, all District SSPs, in collaboration with local elders and prominent political and religious personalities, will ensure the prevention of the distribution of objectionable or offensive wall chalking, posters, pamphlets, and literature. He also directed that strict legal action be taken against those involved in such activities.
He further said that to effectively monitor peace and security measures across the province, central control rooms should be established at the police range level as part of the security plan. These control rooms will remain in constant contact with other police wireless control rooms, maintain a record of the overall security situation during the three days of Eid-ul-Fitr, and issue necessary instructions from time to time to further strengthen and tighten security arrangements.
