Iran suffers more than expected, Trump claims in interview

US President Donald Trump accused Iran of spreading hostility not only against the U.S. and Israel.

Washington/Tehran: US President Donald Trump, in a telephonic interview with Axios, claimed that the ongoing military operations against Iran have inflicted far more damage than initially expected.

Trump stated that the campaign is progressing well and is ahead of schedule, asserting that the destruction initially projected over six months has already been exceeded.

He accused Iran of spreading hostility not only against the U.S. and Israel but also targeting Gulf states, claiming that Tehran has been causing “death and destruction” in the region for the past 47 years and is now facing consequences.

Trump added that when he decides, the war with Iran will conclude, suggesting that there are few remaining strategic targets in Iran, and the conflict could soon reach its end.

Meanwhile, Arab media reports confirmed a drone strike on the Salalah port, targeting oil tanks at the facility.

In a related development, Switzerland has announced the temporary closure of its embassy in Tehran, limiting its diplomatic activities until conditions in Iran improve, according to Swiss authorities.
