DHAKA: Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has announced that three players will make their debut in the upcoming series against Bangladesh national cricket team.
Speaking at a press conference in Dhaka, Shaheen said no player had been dropped from the squad, adding that the management wants to provide opportunities to young cricketers.
He stated that these players could become the future strength of the team, as Pakistan is preparing its squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup and aiming to build the best possible combination.
According to the captain, Muaz Sadaqat, Sahibzada Farhan, and Shamil Hussain will make their international debuts in the series.
Shaheen revealed that Muaz Sadaqat will open the batting, while Shamil Hussain is expected to bat at the number three position.
The captain added that the players selected for the squad have already represented Pakistan Shaheens and have performed in List A cricket, which makes them familiar with competitive conditions.
Responding to a question, Shaheen Afridi said every team tends to perform better in home conditions. He added that the playing XI will be decided according to team requirements and pitch conditions.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will face Bangladesh in the first ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday.
The Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium will host all three day-night matches, with the first encounter scheduled to begin at 1.15pm (Pakistan time).
The trophy for the ODI series was unveiled in Dhaka on Tuesday.
