Pakistan hockey players to get Rs1.5m each after qualifying for World Cup

After delivering a strong showing in the qualifiers held in Egypt, the Pakistan hockey team returned home to a warm welcome.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a reward of Rs1.5 million for each player of the national hockey team following their impressive performance in the World Cup qualifiers.

At the airport, Federal Parliamentary Secretary Kiran Dar, officials from the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry, and representatives of the Pakistan Hockey Federation received the team.

Players were greeted with bouquets, garlands, and showers of flower petals at Islamabad Airport, celebrating their successful campaign.

President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Mohyuddin Wani, also met the players and praised their outstanding performance. He said the team must now focus on better preparations for the Pro Hockey League and the upcoming World Cup.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the cash reward in recognition of the team’s achievement.

Pakistan has qualified for the Hockey World Cup after eight years, with the tournament scheduled to begin on August 14 in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Before the World Cup, Pakistan will compete in the Pro League, where they are set to face Belgium, Spain, India, and England.
