BAJAUR: Amid the sacred month of Ramadan, tragedy struck Bajaur as a ruthless terrorist ambush claimed the lives of four brave Ababeel police officers, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
A brutal and premeditated assault occurred on February 25, 2026, near the Nawey Kalli area of Tehsil Khar, targeting a patrolling squad of the Ababeel Force tasked with ensuring public safety during Ramadan.
The assailants opened fire on the officers during their Iftar-time security patrol. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of Constables Yar Zada, Dawood Khan, Imran, and Siraj, while two others, Irshad Khan and Aziz-ur-Rahman, sustained injuries and were immediately transported to DHQ Hospital Khar for urgent medical care.
Funeral prayers for the fallen officers were held at Bajaur Police Lines, conducted with full state honors. The ceremony was attended by senior police officials, civil authorities, community leaders, and representatives of civil society.
Security personnel rendered a salute to the martyrs, and floral tributes were placed on their coffins, accompanied by prayers for the nation’s safety and stability.
Bajaur DPO Muhammad Khalid confirmed that a substantial contingent of security forces has been deployed to the area and a comprehensive search-and-strike operation is underway.
He emphasized that those responsible for targeting officers on duty would be relentlessly pursued and neutralized, ensuring that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not be in vain.
The remains of the fallen officers have been dispatched to their hometowns, where they will be laid to rest with full state honors. Authorities continue to reinforce security measures in the region to prevent further attacks and safeguard the local population.
