ISLAMABAD:

The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) on Saturday urged Chief Justice Yahya Afridi to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives on the medical examination and treatment of incarcerated PTI founder and former premier Imran Khan.

Imran, who has been imprisoned in Adiala Jail for the last two and a half years, has reportedly lost 85 per cent of the vision in his right eye.

The PTI founder’s lawyer, Salman Safdar — who was appointed amicus curiae by the top court — was permitted to visit his client in prison earlier this week and said Imran began experiencing blurred and hazy vision three to four months ago.

He said despite telling the jail superintendent, no action was taken beyond giving him eye drops.

Minister for Informtion Ata Tarar previously confirmed that Imran had a 20-minute medical procedure on 24 January at Islamabad’s PIMS hospital, saying he was “fine and healthy”.
