Top 5 most common skin problems you must know about

Our skin often mirrors our lifestyle and overall well-being, evolving from the freshness of youth to the changes that come with age. Along this journey, it may experience various challenges in the form of common skin conditions.

Below are five common skin disorders that many people encounter at some point in their lives.

1. Acne:

Contradictory to popular belief, acne affects people of all ages and not just teenagers. The main reason of this skin condition stems from the clogging of hair follicles due to oil (sebum) and dead skin cells.

The severity of acne can range from mild to severe, with pimples, blackheads, and even painful cysts appearing mainly on the forehead and cheeks.

2. Eczema:

It is a chronic condition which is characterized by itchy and inflamed patches of skin. Eczema’s exact cause remains unknown but genetic, environmental and immune system factors are all believed to be causes of acne, varying from person to person.

3. Psoriasis:

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder in which the body tends to accelerate the skin cells’ life cycle, leading to scales and red patches that are often itchy or sore.

4. Rosacea:

Characterized by redness, visible blood vessels, and sometimes small, red, pus-filled bumps on the face. Triggers vary widely, including certain foods, temperatures, and emotions.

5. Sun Damage:

Exposure of the skin to ultraviolet radiation or more commonly known as UV rays, through the sun, can lead to premature aging, sunburns, sunspots, and even an increased risk of skin cancer.

Addressing these skin concerns:

Recognizing these common skin concerns early can lead to better management of its symptoms as well as healthier skin. Always consult a dermatologist for accurate diagnosis and its relevant treatment plans.
