KARACHI:

A fire broke out in a building near Jodia Bazaar, close to Karachi’s Saddar area on Tuesday, according to Rescue 1122.

A statement from the Sindh Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the department’s Central Command and Control received a report and immediately dispatched fire and rescue teams to the site, along with an ambulance and a fire brigade truck.

It added firefighting efforts were currently underway and Rescue 1122 personnel were working to bring the blaze under control.

Further details regarding casualties or the cause of the fire have yet to be confirmed.

Karachi has been grappling with a series of fire incidents, with back-to-back blazes reported at Gul Plaza, Electronics Market, and the Landhi Industrial Processing Zone.

Last month’s Gul Plaza fire claimed 79 lives, while several others were reported missing. After the rescue operation, the plaza was sealed by the authorities.
