Facilitator killed, family members of suicide bomber detained

Suicide blast took place during Friday prayers at the Khadijah Al-Kubra Mosque and Imambargah in Islamabad

Following the suicide blast that occurred in Islamabad yesterday, security agencies have intensified operations across the country. Close associates and family members of the suicide bomber Yasir, son of Bahadur Khan, have been taken into custody.

The brother-in-law of the suicide bomber Yasir was arrested from Karachi, while his brother was taken into custody in Peshawar. An important facilitator was killed in Nowshera, and the most significant arrest was that of the suicide bomber’s mother, who was taken into custody from her house in a posh sector of Islamabad.

It is worth noting that yesterday, a suicide blast took place during Friday prayers at the Khadijah Al-Kubra Mosque and Imambargah in the Tarlai area of Islamabad, resulting in the martyrdom of 33 innocent worshippers and injuries to 169 others.

Several of the injured remain in critical condition, and doctors have warned that the death toll may rise further.

Collective funeral prayers for victims were held at the same mosque on Saturday, attended by local residents and senior officials, including Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary and Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf. Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of Gilgit-Baltistan Police Inspector Bahadur Ali, who was martyred in the blast while on duty, was honored with full official protocols at the Police Lines Headquarters in Islamabad. Islamabad Police Chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, senior officers, and dozens of personnel attended, with his body later sent to his native area amid state honours.
