Security forces have intensified operations against Fitna al-Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing at least 24 terrorists in multiple intelligence-based operations (IBOs), ISPR
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation was conducted in Orakzai district, where 14 Khawarij were killed during an exchange of fire. In separate actions carried out by the security forces, another 10 terrorists were eliminated, bringing the total number of Khawarij killed to 24.
ISPR stated that clearance operations are ongoing in the area due to the possible presence of more terrorists. The military’s media wing reaffirmed that operations against terrorism will continue under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, adding that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to eradicating terrorism from the country.
ISPR emphasized that terrorism sponsored by foreign elements will be eliminated at all costs.
Earlier, ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, while addressing a press conference on January 6, revealed that law enforcement agencies conducted 75,175 intelligence-based operations across the country in 2025. He said 14,658 IBOs were carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 58,778 in Balochistan, and 1,739 in other parts of the country.
The DG ISPR further stated that 5,397 terrorism incidents were reported nationwide during the year, including 3,811 incidents in KP, 1,557 in Balochistan, and 29 incidents in other regions. He added that 2,597 terrorists were killed during counterterrorism operations last year.
Providing details of 10 major terrorist attacks, Lt Gen Chaudhry said civilians and soft targets were deliberately targeted, and Afghan militants were involved in all the incidents.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the security forces for their successful intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He described the elimination of 24 Khawarij as a commendable achievement and said the war against terrorism driven by foreign interference was progressing successfully.
“The fight against the menace of terrorism will continue until its complete eradication from the country,” the President said.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also praised the officers and personnel of the security forces for their successful operations against Fitna al-Khawarij in Orakzai and Khyber districts. He lauded the professionalism and bravery of the troops and reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism completely.
“Under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, I, along with the entire nation, stand shoulder to shoulder with our security forces to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists,” the Prime Minister affirmed.
