SANGHAR:

A man kidnapped his ex-wife for remarrying after acquiring khula to allegedly avenge the damage to his ego as the woman had not only ‘escaped torture in captivity’ but had also found marital bliss and living happily with her new husband.

Members of the Odh community staged a protest in Sanghar demanding the recovery of a married woman, Jamilaan Odh, allegedly kidnapped by her former husband Sunil Odh.

The demonstration, held outside Sanghar Press Club, drew a large number of women, children, and elders, who accused police of negligence and demanded justice.

Protesters, including Miromal Odh, Sajan Odh, Rajo Odh, and Sodomal Odh, told the media that Jamilaan Odh, a resident of Booriji village in Pirumal, had been abducted by her ex-husband, Sunil Odh. They said a case had already been registered at Pirumal police station, but no effective action had been taken, causing deep concern in the village.

According to the protesters, Sunil Odh had a history of abusing Jamilaan, which led her to file for divorce in court. After obtaining khula, she remarried, prompting Sunil to issue threats of dire consequences. The protesters alleged that he later carried out his threats by kidnapping her.

They further complained that despite the registration of the case, police had failed to make any progress against the accused, leaving the victim’s family in severe distress. Concluding the protest, the demonstrators urged Sanghar SSP Abid Ali Baloch to take immediate notice, ensure strict legal action against those involved, and recover Jamilaan Odh without delay so that justice could be served.
