Robert Pattinson goes unfiltered about his ‘very strange’ body odor

Robert Pattinson has opened up about his long-running fascination with scent, including a period when he believes he had a very unusual body odor.

The 39-year-old actor was speaking about his role as a Dior Homme Intense ambassador in a new interview when he reflected on how his own scent has changed over time.

Looking back at a 2020 interview in which he said people told him he smelled like a crayon, Pattinson said that description was accurate at the time.

“Lots of people tell me I smell like a crayon,” he told GQ. “I think that something has changed. My body chemistry has changed. It’s very strange. But I 100% used to smell exactly like a crayon,” Pattinson added.

Pattinson said the shift from the  “crayon-y” scent marked a strange transition in his life. Before that phase, he recalled having a much harsher scent.

The Twilight star then jokingly speculated that the change might align with a personal “seven-year cycle,” suggesting one version of himself ended while another began.

Now a father, Pattinson believes that sensitivity to scent has taken on a new meaning. He welcomed his first child with fiancée Suki Waterhouse in March 2024, and says their daughter has a smell that is uniquely her own.

He admitted he never understood why people loved the smell of babies until he had one himself.

The actor said his daughter’s scent helps him recognise and connect with her. He noted that it feels personal and different from other babies.
