‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 3 taps Holt McCallany, David Costabile and Jesse L. Martin
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is expanding its cast for season three with the addition of three actors, including the performer set to portray the Titan Atlas.
According to Deadline, Holt McCallany, David Costabile and Jesse L. Martin have joined the Disney+ series in new roles. McCallany has been cast as Atlas in a recurring role and is expected to appear in six episodes.
Atlas is described as “also known as the Bearer of Heaven, who was condemned by Zeus to hold up the celestial heavens after the last Titan war against the Olympians. Atlas has recently been freed from his burden and now seeks to lead the armies of Kronos in a war of vengeance.” The character will serve as the primary antagonist of the season.
Costabile will also appear in a recurring role as Dr. Thorn, described as “a stern military academy headmaster who demands obedience from his students.” The character is noted to be a human manifestation, suggesting a deeper connection to the mythological elements of the story.
Martin is set to guest star as Frederick Chase, the mortal father of Annabeth Chase, played by Leah Sava Jeffries. Frederick is described as “a sometimes absentminded but truly brilliant military historian that Athena deemed worthy to parent her daughter.” The character description adds, “though Frederick and Annabeth have had a complicated relationship, he loves her, and they have been finding a way back to each other.”
The three actors join several previously announced cast members for season three. These include Levi Chrisopulos as Nico di Angelo, Olive Abercrombie as Bianca di Angelo, Dafne Keen as Artemis, Saara Chaudry as Zoe Nightshade and Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is currently airing on Disney+, with Season 3 continuing the adaptation of Rick Riordan’s bestselling fantasy novels.
