‘Emily in Paris’ producer explains Lucas Bravo’s reduced screen time in Season 5

The change was the result of production logistics rather than a creative decision to sideline his character
Lucas Bravo’s reduced screen time in Emily in Paris Season 5 has raised questions among viewers, but the change was the result of production logistics rather than a creative decision to sideline his character.
Gabriel, portrayed by Bravo since the show’s debut, appeared less frequently during the latest season despite remaining central to the series’ emotional arc. Director and executive producer Andrew Fleming has clarified that Bravo was simultaneously committed to a film project, limiting his availability during filming.
“He’s important. He’s part of the DNA of the show,” Fleming said, emphasising Gabriel’s continued relevance. He also pointed to the enduring dynamic between Emily and Gabriel, noting, “When he and Emily are in a scene together, something undefinable happens.”
Season 5concludes with Emily ending her relationship with Marcello and returning to Paris. After learning of the split, Gabriel writes Emily a letter expressing his feelings and inviting her to Greece, setting up a potential continuation of their long-running storyline.
Although Netflix has not yet announced a sixth season, Fleming suggested confidence in the show’s future and confirmed that Gabriel remains part of Emily’s journey.
