A major attack unfolded at Boya camp in the Datta Khel area in North Waziristan on Friday when armed militants targeted a security forces camp. According to official sources, the attackers initiated the assault by firing upon the post and attempting to breach the perimeter. In the ensuing fierce exchange of gunfire between militants and security personnel, all five militants (four ground assailants and one car bomber) were killed, while seven security personnel were wounded in the clash.
Initial reports say the assailants used an explosives‑laden vehicle and suicide jackets to breach and assault the camp, with a powerful blast reported near the scene that damaged shops and buildings, injuring residents. The explosion was reportedly strong enough to be heard from Miranshah city, roughly 25 kilometres away, and heavy smoke was seen rising from the site soon after impact.
According to reports, the conflict lasted for three hours until the assailants were killed, however the Boya Army camp is still not cleared.
Police, along with security forces and bomb disposal units, quickly cordoned off the area and launched a clearance and search operation to secure the surroundings. Rescue 1122 and medical teams were dispatched to assist the injured, who are receiving treatment at local medical facilities.
Officials say that, following the attack, security across the district was placed on high alert and precautionary measures were taken, including temporarily suspending traffic on a key highway. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact tactics used by the militants and whether any broader network was involved.
The Aswad-ul-Harab, Huzaifa suicide squad, affiliated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadar group under the Ittihadul Mujahideen Pakistan conglomerate, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Tank Saddar police station attack
Militants attempted a drone‑based assault on the Mureed Akbar Shaheed Police Station late last night. The attackers used a quadcopter to strike the daily logbook room of the police station, seriously injuring the station clerk and his assistant. Both wounded police officials were rushed to Tank Civil Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical care.
Police and local security forces reported hearing intense firing immediately following the explosion. Security teams have cordoned off the vicinity and launched a full‑scale search operation as part of ongoing investigations into the incident.
