Jimmy Kimmel comments on Donald Trump appearing to fight sleep during cabinet meeting

Jimmy Kimmel remarks on footage of Donald Trump appearing tired during a White House cabinet meeting

Jimmy Kimmel used his Tuesday monologue to comment on footage of President Donald Trump appearing to struggle to stay awake during a White House cabinet meeting earlier in the day.

As cabinet officials praised the administration’s work, the video showed Trump seemingly fighting off sleep. Kimmel asked his audience, “Does this look like a man who is showing signs of fatigue?” before playing the clip.

Kimmel also referenced Trump’s extensive activity on Truth Social the previous night, noting that the president had shared around 160 posts.

He said the posts ranged from the promotion of conspiracy theories to criticism of opponents and praise for himself and first lady Melania Trump. Kimmel attributed the appearance of tiredness to the late-night posting, remarking on the volume of activity.

The discussion followed a New York Times article suggesting that Trump was showing “signs of fatigue” as the 79-year-old president “faces realities of aging in office.” Trump and his aides have disputed that characterisation.

Kimmel went on to react to further footage of Trump during the cabinet meeting, commenting that the president appeared to be trying to maintain focus. He also referenced several figures within the administration, making humorous remarks about reports involving them.

He mentioned Robert F. Kennedy Jr., noting public allegations concerning him; the Secretary of War, referring to claims related to civilian deaths; and the FBI director, referencing reports about personal travel and a delayed investigation.

Kimmel concluded by comparing the state of the cabinet to an everyday reference point, prompting further laughter from the audience.

His remarks prompted social media discussion about the president’s recent public appearances, with Kimmel’s comments circulating widely online.
