Celine Dion is celebrating the festive season after she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome.

Taking to her Instagram on Thursday, November 27, the 57-year-old Canadian singer posted a video in which she wished her fans and followers Thanksgiving.

Dion also reminded them to “slow down, take a deep breath, and give thanks” during the holiday season, as such special occasions are a beautiful reminder that allows us to appreciate the importance of our loved ones and life in general.

She said in the clip, “There’s something so powerful about gathering with the people you love, whether around a full table over the phone or even just in your heart.”

“I’m so thankful to my family and our moments together that mean the world to me,” the hitmaker of My Heart Will Go On noted, showing gratitude to her family and cherishing the moments that are created during such gatherings.

This message from Dion comes after she faced a family tragedy, as she lost her husband, René Angélil, to throat cancer in 2016. She welcomed her three children with Angélil: son Rene-Charle, 24, and twin boys Eddy and Nelson, 15.

Shockingly, only two days later, her elder brother Daniel Dion succumbed to brain, throat, and tongue cancer at the age of 59.

Before concluding, it is pertinent to mention that in 2022, Celine Dion found out that she was suffering from stiff-person syndrome.

For those unaware, stiff person syndrome “is a rare, chronic condition that causes muscle stiffness and painful muscle spasms. The severity of symptoms varies from person to person. There’s no cure for stiff person syndrome, but treatment can help manage symptoms and slow the progression of the condition,” according to Cleveland Clinic.
