ISLAMABAD:
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development on Thursday reviewed the implementation of its prior directives and received progress briefings from the Ministry, the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BEOE), the FIA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
The body urged the authorities to open new Protector Offices and complete the E-Protector digitisation process.
The meeting was chaired by MNA Syed Rafiullah, a statement said.
On Protector Offices, the acting secretary confirmed that approvals are in process but acknowledged budgetary constraints and logistical delays.
The committee made it clear that such constraints cannot justify further delays and recommended that the new offices be made operational during the current financial year.
The committee further recommended that Protector services be tightly integrated with NADRA and other e-government platforms to guarantee identity verification and reduce dependence on intermediaries.
