David Corenswet ‘Superman’ makes its way to Golden Globes

Superman, starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, is gearing up for the upcoming award season as it is tipped to make a big mark.
The film is 2025’s third-highest domestic grosser after Lilo & Stitch and A Minecraft Movie.
According to Variety, the Warner Bros. Studio has submitted the film into the drama category at Golden Globe Awards, referring to the filmmaker, James Gunn’s intentions it stated that he wants to “position the iconic superhero as more than just escapist entertainment.”
The studio has proposed Superman for Best Motion Picture (Drama), along with acting categories for Corenswet in Best Actor (Drama), Brosnahan for Supporting Actress and Nicholas Hoult for Supporting Actor.
In addition to this, Gunn is included in for directing and screenplay, plus original song for The Mighty Crabjoys Theme, penned by Gunn, Eric Nally and Devin Williams.
Plus, the film has also earned enough box office receipts for consideration for Outstanding Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, which recognises films that have grossed more than $150 million globally.
“The drama category positioning underscores Gunn’s ambition to present the Man of Steel traditionally associated with truth, justice and the American way — as a vehicle for weighty themes,” wrote the publication.
Superman Golden Globes talks came after the project sparked Oscar buzz, earlier this month.
The film has been submitted for a total of 16 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay and few more in the Hollywood’s biggest awards, as per the ScreenRant.
Previously, the DCU film by Todd Philips Joker (2019) won Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Best Original Score, with both victories translating to Oscar wins.
Gunn has also been recognised for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which received a nomination for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the Globes, before earning an Oscar nom for visual effects.
Meanwhile, his original Guardians of the Galaxy won an Oscar for makeup and hairstyling and visual effects in 2014.
