Jennifer Lopez recently opened up to Howard Stern about turning down the 2002 film Unfaithful, which starred Richard Gere and Diane Lane.

The movie’s director, Adrian Lyne, had offered Lopez the role, but she ultimately decided against it due to the script.

“The script wasn’t good,” Lopez said, although she acknowledged that Lyne “made it great.” Despite her decision, Lopez admitted that she still wonders what could have been.

“It haunts me a little bit,” she confessed. “It’s like the one that I turned down that it was just like, ‘Why did you turn down working with Adrian Lyne? What were you thinking?'”

At the time, Lopez was juggling a busy music and acting career, with recent releases like The Wedding Planner and Angel Eyes. The film Unfaithful went on to earn $119 million worldwide and earned Diane Lane an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

Lopez’s decision to turn down Unfaithful is particularly notable given the buzz she’s generating for her supporting role in Bill Condon’s Kiss of the Spider Woman, which could potentially earn her an Academy Award nomination.
