Selena Gomez reveals ‘sobbing’ after Benny Blanco marriage, ‘biggest conflict’

Selena Gomez is opening up about how her fears sometimes overshadow the happiest moments in her life.
The Only Murders in the Building star, who has long been a vocal advocate for mental health, recently shared how even her marriage to music producer Benny Blanco brought on unexpected emotions.
“I got married and then I was sobbing,” Selena revealed during Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference on Oct. 15. “‘Cause I was like, ‘I’m gonna die the next day.’”
The 33-year-old explained that when something positive happens, she often worries it could be followed by something bad.
“So instead of being present and saying, ‘OK, wow, we’ve done a great thing,’ which I do, but I’m always thinking, ‘OK, but this could all go away tomorrow. So how can I make sure that doesn’t happen?’” Selena said.
“And I can just get wrapped up in that as opposed to enjoying things. And I would say that’s my biggest conflict sometimes, when wonderful things happen.”
Selena and Benny tied the knot on Sept. 27 in California, surrounded by family and close friends. Just days later, she shared a heartfelt message to her fans about entering this new chapter of her life.
“As I step into one of the most special seasons of my life, I can’t help but think of you, my incredible friends who have been with me through every twist, turn, and chapter,” she wrote on Instagram on Oct. 2.
“From my first days on screen to the songs we’ve sung together, and now to this new beginning, your love and support have meant more to me than I could ever truly put into words.”
Looking ahead, the Rare Beauty founder has expressed hope for more milestones to come, including starting a family with Benny, despite previously sharing that she would be unable to carry a pregnancy due to health reasons.
Meanwhile, Hailey Bieber has also recently addressed ongoing rumours of tension between her and Selena.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, the 28-year-old model said she dislikes being compared to other celebrities, especially Justin Bieber’s ex.
When asked about fans comparing her beauty line, Rhode, to Selena’s Rare Beauty, Hailey said she finds it frustrating “being pitted against other people.”
“I didn’t ask for that,” she explained.
Hailey added that people often create false narratives about her life.
“When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that,” she said.
Despite years of speculation surrounding the two women, Hailey made it clear that she believes there’s room for everyone in the beauty world.
“I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by,” she added.
Both Selena and Hailey continue to focus on their personal growth and careers, showing that even under constant public scrutiny, there’s still space for positivity, individuality, and mutual respect.
